Meet The Bay Tree Belles

Get to know us before you get in touch!

We thought it may be an idea for you to see who you'll be speaking to when you call us or so that you don't get too much of a shock when you come in the shop and meet us in person! So here we are - Sarah, Jo, Nic and Alice. We're all here at different times and sometimes we overlap, so it's a bit of a lucky dip!

People often say, "You have my dream job, I've always wanted to own a book shop." And I'd have to agree! It pretty much involves everything I enjoy... books, shopping (for the shop), being creative, talking, laughing, event planning, meeting all sorts of people, surrounding myself with lovely things, talking, laughing...

Joanne Bleaden

Roald Dahl's Matilda loved to read because, 'The books transported her into new worlds and introduced her to amazing people who lived exciting lives'. To be surrounded by books is a wonderful thing. I can be transported at any moment and if I can't find where I want to be in the shop it is only a click away. Let us transport you too, be it through fiction or non-fiction; a time, a place, a garden, a kitchen, a sports field ....

I’m really excited to be joining the Bay Tree Books team. My background is contemporary ceramics having graduated from Cumbria College of Art and Design with a first class honours in design craft. I’ve been self-employed for 16 years as a ceramic artist. I have a two-year-old son who loves his story time with either his mummy or daddy. Therefore I have a special interest in children’s books.

Bay Tree is a gorgeous little shop full of brilliant bits and pieces and plenty of good reads to cosy up on the sofa with.  I am very lucky to be part of such a friendly and enthusiastic team whilst meeting lovely customers who make my job even lovelier.
